Episode Notes:
- Finding the destination is the most important step by far.
- Different methods are like different tests for the same medical issues. Each has its own strengths and weaknesses.
- Let the answers marinate, then come back and make sure they still resonate with you.
- Never Split the Difference, book on negotiating
- Look at what it is, and then why it works.
- Start from scratch on these methods to begin with, then later methods will ask you to look back at things you’ve done before.
- First Method: Blank Canvas
- What will you sacrifice and struggle for?
- Foster care non-profit example
- What hill are you willing to die on?
- Tightrope analogy
- How does “level of success” play into this?
- It’s easy for small businesses to get focused on survival instead of focusing on the things that are motivating and get you out of bed in the morning.
- Example: Google’s mission: organize all the world’s information.
- Customers want a relationship with a business, buying into who they are and why they do what they do.
- Layering of strategies with organizations and the people who start them and work at them.
- What about younger people doing these methods?
- Method 1 isn’t the best for you. Other methods will work better.
- This method assumes that it’s all inside of you already, but it may not be.
